1. What happens to students who will graduate in the spring semester of 2019/2020?
According to the general guidelines, all courses are to be held in the form of distance education. Only the Deans can make an exception to this rule in those cases, where a course proves to be impossible to be realised virtually and by all means requires personal presence. This guideline is especially applicable in case of the graduating students. Should there be no obstacle for them to obtain the pre-degree certificate (absolutorium), on-line thesis defence and final examination will be organized as well.
2. What is the new deadline for submitting the thesis?
In case the Faculty decides to establish a new deadline for submitting the thesis (or for any other related process, e.g. changing the subject of the thesis), the information will be published on the usual website no later than 14 days prior the extension of the new deadline.
3. What will happen to the final exams scheduled for the spring semester?
The final exams will be held in the form of distance education.
4. What happens with the students who are currently abroad on Erasmus mobility? Do they have to return to ELTE? What happens with their credits?
Students who are currently on Erasmus study mobility can complete their courses and obtain credits at the host institution in the form of distance education. Should they have eligible accommodation in the host country as well, they are not obliged to return to ELTE. In this case, they are also eligible for the total amount of the scholarship (based on the certificate issued by the host institution indicating the full mobility period) and the completed credits will be recognized by the sending institution. For more information on the Erasmus programme please
visit this website.
5. How can I complete my internship/my field practice? Will I lose the credits for it?
Students can only proceed with their internship or in case of dual training, with their practical training if the host institution or hosting company accepts them. The University supports completing the internships on-line.
6. Practical courses cannot be held online. What will happen to these courses and their credits?
In case a course cannot be held (or completed) in the form of distance education, the course will be deleted from the Neptun system by the University on the last day of the academic year. Fees charged for multiple course application i) if already paid, will be reimbursed, ii) if not paid yet, payment requests in the Neptun system will be deleted. When a course is cancelled by the University, it is considered as a course that has not been taken by the student, namely it does not count towards registered but not completed subjects.
7. Should students continue to pay their full tuition fee for the semester?
Yes, as educational activity continues after the re-scheduled spring break.
8. How are paying scholarships affected by the closing of the university?
Scholarships will be paid uninterruptedly during the state of emergency, in the usual time and regularity.
9. Will the students experience delays in their studies because of the emergency provisions? Will the current semester be delayed?
The
schedule of the academic year will not change during the state of emergency, except placing the spring break at an earlier time. The exam period will also remain as planned. The progress of all students according to the existing curriculum and their preparation for the exams will be provided by distance learning options.
10. How exams and seminar tests will be organized?
Distance education ensures a variety of options for examination of students’ knowledge. The teachers may select the most optimal way of examination freely, so no obstacles are foreseen in preparation and writing essays and exams.
11. Will distance learning apply to all courses, or will some courses be cancelled? May the students experience any disadvantage because of this?
The University aims to hold all courses in the form of distance education. In case of holding/completing a course is not possible in distance learning, the University will cancel the course on the last day of the semester. Fees charged for multiple course applications i) if already paid, will be reimbursed, ii) if not paid yet, payment requests in the Neptun system will be deleted. The cancelled course will not count towards the taken but not completed credits, but it will be considered as the student would have not registered for the course.
